Some of my most favorite wedding days come from the most unexpected inquiries. This is especially true for Jess & Joe, considering they contacted me just a few months prior to their quaint, classy fall wedding held at her parents farm. Their wedding date was the only date I had left in October, one of the busiest months of the year for wedding photographers, so it was meant to be!

Keeping with the theme of their wedding, we did their engagement session at Jess & Joe’s home in Richmond, which was an actual dream come true. When Roman and I pulled in the driveway, we were stunned at not only the property, but also the fact that there were deer families and geese and other critters roaming around casually like we were in a Disney movie. I was expecting Jess to answer the door with little birdies helping her tie her hair back with a ribbon and button her dress. And even though that wasn’t exactly the case, she and Joe looked so sharp and somehow maintained class while also getting super silly with us. Skill!

Their wedding day was exactly how I would have expected, but better. These images turned out to be some of my all time favorites, because the true happiness that is on their faces could not be recreated just for the sake of a photograph. Every smile and every laugh is so convincing because they’re genuine. Their families came together and partied hard for this couple, and getting to be there to experience the love they all share for each other just filled me right up!

I really could go on for days telling you my favorite parts, but instead I’ll just compile a list of highlights real quick (in no particular order):

1. Jess came down the aisle with both parents to “The Circle of Life”. Try to imagine that.

2. Recessional was to “All I Do Is Win,” and again… just try to imagine that.

3. Jess’s best friend was overseas, but still FaceTimed in while Jess got ready. This was around 4am for her. And you could hear her crying from Jess’s phone all morning.

4. All of the toasts were hilarious. Had to be there.. sorry you couldn’t.

5. Before they danced to their last song and exited, they changed into pajamas. Goals!

I just obviously loved this day.
