If you know me at all, or you’ve been to my house, you know dark and moody is kind of my thing. Halloween brings so much joy to my dark soul. Everything about it- dark colors, haunted houses, cheesy costumes and parties, leaves falling off of dying trees… what isn’t to love?!
I also love weddings. One might think that these two things do not go together… but Claire & Jackson would tell you otherwise. When they asked if I might be able to photograph their wedding on Halloween, hopefully I didn’t come off too strong when I emailed back with an IMMEDIATE yes. It’s not like I was getting invited to any Halloween parties, so this would definitely end up being the coolest Halloween ever.
I didn’t think it could get any better until I toured their venue, the Common House. That’s when I realized I had struck gold. This is the venue of my photographer dreams. It took everything I had in me not to overreact at every space we looked at. I mean… just look at this intimate reception space!!
It got even better when we realized after spending some time with each of them that Claire and Jackson are just the absolute coolest people ever. The true testimony to that is how awesome each and every one of their guests were too. The energy they share with their friends and family is one of a kind.
Claire & Jackson filled the whole room with tears for the entirety of their ceremony, and their love for each other radiated all day long. Just one of those nights that I left feeling so refreshed, and makes me so thankful to be a wedding photographer for the coolest people.
…Now I’m going to start planning my Halloween wedding reception and maybe steal all of their ideas. Complete with a surprise drag show and a real drag performance. Yes, you read that right!
